We're a group of students from Temasek Polytechnic's Hospitality & Tourism Management diploma working on our project to help research more on the attractions on these green city. We hope to assist in your planning for your itinery during your stay in Singapore, as well as give you a better insight of what Singapore has instored for you! Shopping and the Night Life in Singapore
This week, we will cater more to shoppers and tourist who love the night life.
Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is a place to go if you want to enjoy Singapore's nightlife. They have numerous pubs, clubs and restaurants for you to visit. You can also visit Go Fly Kite (GFK), to experience flying a remote-controlled kite at night! For more information you can check it out http://www.goflykite.com/home.html.
On top of that, Clarke Quay is home to Singapore’s first extreme ride, G-Max Reverse Bungy! A maximum of 3 people can be seated in the specially designed open air steel reinforced capsule attached by US approved bungy cords to two towers. The capsule will be released up to 60m in the air at speeds of 200kph which will last for about 5 minutes.
You can also take a bum boat cruise down the Singapore River from Clarke Quay. It is an excellent way to relax and enjoy the marvelous sights of Singapore. For more information, visit: http://www.rivercruise.com.sg/rivercruise.htm.
There is even a shopping centre called The Central located at Clarke Quay beside the Singapore River. The Central integrates office and habitation together. The mall is aimed to bring a whole new level of vibrancy to the area treasured for its rich historical background and architectural heritage.
Douby Ghaut
Douby Ghaut houses both The Cathay and Plaza Singapura.

Plaza Singapura is a popular contemporary one-stop urban mall with emphasis on fashion, entertainment and food for families and young adults. Somerset
There is a whole stretch of shopping centres as well as a variety of entertainment services available at the Somerset. They have different malls to suit to the different age groups for example, Orchard Cineleisure caters more to youths whereas the Centre Point is a shopping mall suitable for all ages.
Shops in these shopping malls along Somerset has a variety of things such as food and beverage, retail, facials, spas and even pubs and bars! On top of that, there is also a SCAPE skate park available at Somerset for skaters to practice or show off their incredible skating skills!
Orchard Road
Orchard road is the one stop shopping district in Singapore with so many different shopping centres to cater to various age groups. For example, they have Far East Plaza to cater more to the youths with cheap bargains available. The newly opened Orchard Ion caters more to the high fashion aspect of shopping.
Orchard Road also has a lot of different eateries to cater to your taste buds. On top of that, many well known hotels are all located in Orchard Road itself. Such hotels are Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Hilton International Singapore, and Grand Hyatt Singapore Hotel.
If you visit Orchard Road at night during the Christmas period, you will be able to see the beautiful light up along Orchard Road and it stretches all the way to Douby Ghaut. Taking a stroll down Orchard Road looking at the lights is such a beautiful way to end the evening.

Down Town East Pasir Ris and Other Chalets
This week, we will bring you to the heartlands for a cheap and fun getaway.
Downtown East E!hub
E!Hub has spas, facials, and manicure and pedicure and foot reflexology. Visitors to E!hub can indulge in some retail therapy available there, from shoes to gifts to even resort wear! NTUC Fairprice, a homegrown supermarket, is available in E!hub.
E!hub has a wide variety of eateries, and I ensure that you will be spoilt for choice! Western, Thai, Japanese, and Local are just some choices available in E!hub. They even have a number of fast food outlets for quick dining.
Exciting events and activities are also constantly being held at the D'Marquee in Downtown East. Located just beside the Costa Sands Resort (Downtown East).
Wild Wild Wet
There are a wide variety of exciting and fun rides suitable for toddlers to adults, some which are the first of their kind in Asia! It is the first theme park which goes cashless and you will use Funkey cards to make purchases inside and other participating outlets outside Wild Wild Wet.
Escape Theme Park
Singapore’s largest outdoor theme park, located in the premises of NTUC Downtown East, Pasir Ris. The amusement park is known for its good mixture of thrill rides and family rides. The park has in stored 11 exciting rides catered for young children, up to adults who are up for a thrill.
Costa Sands Resort (Downtown East)
The resort even offers a free two-way shuttle bus service to and fro Pasir Ris MRT station.

Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris) is located near the beach and allows holiday makers to have an enjoyable and memorable time during the stay. Each chalet is not only provided with BBQ area, there is also a mini-mart, cafeteria, swimming pool, American pool tables, and launderette available at the Resort.
Furthermore, it only requires a 5-minute walk to Escape Theme Park and Wild Wild Wet. This would allow people to not only enjoy their stay in the Resort but also have fun outside the Resort due to its convenient accessibility.

Aloha Loyang
Aloha Loyang has 38 chalets, with full kitchen facilities, a BBQ pit, dining and living rooms, and 2 to 4 bedrooms. Its facilities are aplenty with a giant fun pool with Jacuzzis, children’s playroom, arcade room, a multi-purpose court and our aloha café by the pool. There are mainly three different types of chalets and they are namely Pool/Sea View Terraces, Garden/Sea View Bungalows and Garden Terraces.

Singapore Flyer and Other Attractions
This is the first post in our blog and we have decided to introduce the Singapore Flyer, Marina Barrage, Esplanade- Theatres on the Bay and the shopping centres around these three national icons.
Singapore Flyer
A ride on the Singapore Flyer! Do you know that it is the approximate height of a 42 storey building? It would allow you to be treated to a visual 360 day-to-night panorama of Singapore’s breathtaking cityscape!
We got a chance to view all of Singapore’s landmarks and hotspots like the Marina Bay’s floating platform, and Singapore River during the ride which lasts for 30 minutes! We've never seen Singapore like that! How beautiful!
We found out that the Flyer also offers a premium sky dining experience for visitors to dine and at the same time, enjoy the spectacular view! Good place for a proposal!
On top of that, the Flyer sits atop a three-storey leisure building with a wide array of restaurants for people to fill their stomach! This includes the common favourite Popeyes restaurants of people! Shopping outlets were also available for us to shop for souvenirs.

Marina Barrage
Marina Barrage is home to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery.
The roof of the Visitor Centre, the Green roof is completely covered with grass! It serves as a viewing deck and a venue for private functions and recreational activities such as picnics! A pretty good place for relaxation! The night view of both the city and the barrage itself is beautiful.
As the water in the Marina Basin is unaffected by the tides, it is ideal for all kinds of recreational activities such as boating, windsurfing, kayaking, dragon boating and other forms of water sports!

Esplanade- Theatres on the Bay
The Esplanade, also known as the “DURIAN”, acts as a one of the busiest art centres in Singapore.
The Esplanade presents performances and programmes for all audiences. Different programmes are presented in festivals and series which is dedicated to a broad range of audiences.
The Esplanade also provides a variety of cuisines such as Asian, Western, Cafes and Bars and many more!
There is also the Esplanade Shop available allowing us to bring back some signature goods of the Esplanade! This includes post cards, soft toys and more. There are also beauty spa salons, gift and fashion shops.
You can tour Esplanade either by going for a guided tour or touring it by yourself like us! The Esplanade has an outdoor theatre which host performances and it also has a roof terrace where you can sit and enjoy the city skyline.

CityLink Mall
This is an underground mall located between City Hall MRT and One Raffles Link. It has over 50 shops offering international fashion names, beautiful gifts and accessories, and home accessories.
It also links to two major shopping malls, Sun Tec City and Marina Square! Tunnel to a shopping heaven!
You will be able to get there by taking the the MRT Train, East West line or the North South line, to City Hall MRT station!
Suntec City Mall and Convention Centre
Suntec City Mall is a shopping hub also accompanied by a world class convention centre which is an ideal venue for meetings, conventions and exhibitions.
There is a wide array of shopping and dining experiences with more than 300 retail outlets, 50 push carts and 100 food and beverage establishments!
There is also the world’s largest fountain – Fountain of Wealth! We were entertained by the mesmerizing multimedia extravaganza of laser light and sound while we were there.
The Duck Tours allowed us to experience both land and sea adventure. There is also the Hippo Tours which is an open top bus tour where the tour guide will bring you around Singapore.

Marina Suqare Shopping Centre
Marina Square is a one stop shopping district with many shops suitable for all kinds of needs, be it for apparels, electronics, sports, or furnishing and even house ware. A family shopping place!
They even have a movie theatre, a bowling alley, and a wide variety of cuisines to choose from to satisfy your taste buds ranging from Western, to fast food to Chinese and many more.

6pm: Take a slow stroll to the Singapore Flyer for dinner
7pm: Go on a ride on the Singapore Flyer to get a bird’s eye view of Singapore
